His Excellency Te Beretitenti Taneti Maamau and his delegation returned on Monday, 23 March 2026 after attending the Climate Change Ministerial Talanoa held from 19 to 20 March in Brisbane, Australia.

The discussion focused on the preparations for the 31st Pre Conference of the Parties to the Conference (Pre-COP31) to be hosted in the Pacific with the support by the Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Honourable Chris Bowen of the Government of Australia in his role as the President of Negotiations for the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to be held in November 2026.

In the margins of the meeting, His Excellency Te Beretitenti and his Team also had the opportunity to visit the Police Pinkenba Hub Training Facility, Real Life Christian Church and met the Kiribati police and workers at the Meat Factory, including I-Kiribati living in Brisbane, Australia.

The delegation acknowledgement to the Government of Australia through the High Commissioner to Kiribati, Mark Foxe, for the assistance provided in facilitating these visits.
